Welcome to the first CSA of 2016!

Please review the FAQs about CSA pick-up protocol and other things.

Beautiful lettuces, and other salad greens, for you!

--> Lettuce -- Many varieties, all delicious!

--> Arugula -- Spice up a salad, or wilt into a pasta or stir-fry

--> Radish - Red Globe, Pink Beauty, French Breakfast

--> Spinach - don't let the large leaves scare you -- they are sweet and juicy -- great raw in salads, or cooked as a side dish, with eggs, pasta, or whatever you like!

--> Garlic Scapes -- these curly-cue tops of hardback garlic are sweet and crunchy, great raw or cooked, and are milder than regular garlic. Get more background, plus recipe ideas, here.

--> Beets - all with wonderful leafy tops (stems and leaves) that you can use as you would spinach (if there aren't enough beets for everyone, some people may get carrots. If you get carrots this week, you'll get beets next week, and vice versa.

--> CHOICE of Herbs -- Choose ONE from:
• Asian (flat-leaf) chives,
• Regular (hollow-leaf) chives,
• Sorrel
• Cilantro
• Baby fennel (eat the whole thing -- sweet, aromatic, proto-bulb, stem, and feathery fronds)

Remember, the Monday CSA list is not carved in stone! While what we email you is generally correct, farming with nature means you have to be flexible. If the ravenous deer help themselves to the salad bar in the field overnight, or the flea beetles attack the arugula, or there aren't enough beets for every CSA member, Henry will substitute something else. That said, what's on the Monday list is most often what you'll see at the Tuesday pick-up, and here's what you can look forward to tomorrow.
