The fallow bottom land field at the end of May.
What with the suddenly summery weather, we got lucky about 10am on Thursday, when a bank of dark clouds rolled in from the northwest, and we got a lovely hour of showers.  The ground was getting pretty dry, so all the vegetables are happy now, and it was especially good considering that Henry had just seeded okra, edamame, and sweetcorn.

But as fate would have it, our neighbor had just done the first cutting of hay.  Ideally, we "make hay when the sun shines," but the brief shower, followed by a very sunny afternoon, and a number of 90-degree days, means we'll probably get some good hay even with the rain.
Same field, same dog, a week later, just before the shower.

Of course, this recent rain means that the weeds will take off once again, and we will be even further behind on weeding.  So if we're not harvesting or planting, you can bet we'll be weeding!
